GRACE
EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL CELEBRATES 49 YEARS, HONORS FACULTY AND STAFF
Head
of School Carol Franek Honored for 20 Years of Service
KENSINGTON, MD – March 31 — On Thursday, March 19, 2009 Grace Episcopal Day School celebrated their annual Founder’s Day, held at Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, MD, next to the Lower School campus. Nursery students through seventh graders sang hymns and the school song before honoring faculty and staff with applause and cheers. Each faculty and staff member was recognized for their service, with plaques given to those who reached milestones of five, ten, and twenty years. This year, two members of the Grace community reached their 20 year mark: Head of School Carol Franek, and Silver Spring campus Administrative Assistant Cathy Moore. Both are beloved by students, parents, and their colleagues. The event was attended by parents, alumni, current and former board members, and several former teachers. Following the chapel service, a reception was held, during which board members and teachers alike lauded Ms. Franek and Ms. Moore for their dedication, leadership and good cheer.
Founded in 1960 and steeped in the Episcopal school tradition of excellence, Grace Episcopal Day School is one of the region’s top independent schools and offers programs for students in nursery through eighth grade at two bustling campuses.
